The man accused of murdering a mother of two on Tuesday morning has faced court for the first time.

On Wednesday, Lee Streng, 33 of Park Holme appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates court, facing murder charges after 51-year-old mother and grandmother Louise Hughes was found unresponsive on Tuesday.

Lawyer Stacey Carter, appearing for Mr Streng, appeared via video link as prosecutors asked Magistrate Jayne Basheer to adjourn the matter for seven months in order to gather a preliminary post mortem report.

Prosecution counsel said other statements were also being gathered.

Ms Carter did not make any application for Mr Streng to be released on bail and he was remanded in custody.

Magistrate Basheer adjourned the matter until December.

Friends of the suspected murder victim paid tribute to the “lovely person” on social media.

“I think we are all still in shock … but your infectious smile will stay with me forever, RIP my friend,” one person said.

“Words cannot describe how shocked we all are; you were one of a kind, Louise and your family love you so much,” she said.

Just after 5am on Tuesday, SA Police were called to a home at Park Holme in Adelaide’s south after a person was found unresponsive.

Emergency services attempted to revive Ms Hughes of Glengowrie, but she died at the scene.

Police wouldn’t reveal further information due to the early stages of investigations, but said Ms Hughes and Mr Streng were known to each other.
