Jade explained to Cosmopolitan that she doesn't like to exercise alone. "What motivates me? I can't go [to the gym] by myself. One because I get embarrassed because I don't know how anything works, but two because it's really hard to motivate yourself. I go with my brother or my boyfriend because you want to be better than them – it gets competitive."

Jade maintains that listening to the right music can pump you up for exercise. Her favorites are "power anthems [and] Little Mix," she said. "I listen to Scooter and Cascada, it gets you proper pumped. It really makes you wanna move."

According to fellow Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock, the girls stay in shape by dancing while on the road. "We dance a lot, so that's our main exercise." However, they also "try to go to the gym as much as we can," she added. "I tend to go in hard when I know I'm going on holiday and I've got to get my body out. Three times a week, but I'm gonna have to go in [this time] because I haven't trained for six months. It's ridiculous. I'm off the bandwagon." Jade added she also does exercises in her hotel room. "If I don't go to the gym I try to do squats and sit ups before I go to bed," she said.

Jade has a unique way of motivating herself during workouts. "I shout names at myself. I'll be like 'Jessica Alba', 'J-Lo'.. If you say the names, it motivates you because that's who you want to look like," she told Cosmo.

Jade revealed to the BBC that she struggled with an eating disorder when she was younger. "It got to the point when I knew I needed someone else to tell, harboring a horrible secret like that is obviously really damaging to your mental health and obviously my physical health," she said. She eventually told someone she thought she had a problem. "It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The minute I started to actually talk to people about it, was the minute I started to get better," she continued. "I don't think I would ever do that to myself again." When talking to two teenagers in recovery from anorexia, she revealed the secret to recovery: "I just learned to love myself again."
