adidas deny reports of 'secret talks' with Mason Greenwood over Manchester United future

adidas have denied reports of 'secret talks' with Mason Greenwood over his Manchester United future.

It has been claimed 'positive' discussions recently took place between the club and Greenwood's sponsors adidas over a possible return to action.

However, adidas have since released the following statement: "After inaccurate and speculative reporting within the media it’s important for us to clarify that adidas has had no discussions with Manchester United regarding any member of their playing squad.

"We play no role in any decisions made regarding any member of the team or staff at the club."

The forward has returned to training on his own as the club continue an internal investigation into accusations of attempted rape and assault.

He was arrested and charged in January 2022 when images and videos were posted on social media.

Greenwood was also questioned on suspicion of making threats to kill but all charges were dropped by police at the beginning of February 2023.

The Crown Prosecution Service cited the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light.

He has been suspended since January 2022, following his initial arrest.

Greenwood was named on the club's retained list, but his future remains up in the air.

He last played for Manchester United in a 1-0 win over West Ham on January 22, 2022.

Greenwood as been linked with loan moves this summer including one to Atalanta in Serie A.
